Mr. Hritz handles complex litigation, arbitration and other disputes for corporations and individuals and provides crisis management and business-oriented legal and strategic advice to a broad range of clients, often acting as part-time general counsel.

 Representative matters:

  • Arbitration trial over M&A commission; client was awarded 10x last best offer.

  • Representing software firms in successful opposition to termination of long-term contracts with multinational services supplier.

  • Representing NYC building owner addressing litigation over real estate and related disputes.

  • Resolving disputes with SEC, U.S. Attorneys’ offices and other governmental bodies over asset freezes and forfeitures.

  • Favorable resolution in arbitration proceedings of contract claims involving product development issues, including significant cost recoveries.

  • Recovering embezzled funds for non-profit.

Mr. Hritz clerked for a federal district judge in New York and was associated with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. After and during periods of government service in Washington D.C., he was a partner at Hogan Lovells and its predecessors in New York for 30 years before moving his practice to Westchester and Fairfield Counties.

Published works:
Numerous articles in U.S., European, Asian and Middle Eastern publications and presented at numerous litigation and arbitration conferences and panels. Subjects have included ethical issues for regulated industries, electronic discovery, international arbitration, separate settlement counsel and other dispute resolution techniques, extraterritorial jurisdiction, litigation funding, legal history and U.S. anti-slavery litigation.

Community and Leadership/Pro Bono Highlights:
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Hritz is Co-Founder, President Emeritus and Legal Counsel of Princeton in Africa, which has placed over 500 recent college and professional school graduates at more than 50 organizations in over 30 African countries in the past 20 years. Mr. Hritz also served for over 30 years on the Board and Overseers of the International Rescue Committee, a prominent refugee relief organization and was its General Counsel.

He also served as Associate Independent Counsel in a federal grand jury investigation and lengthy trial of a former U.S. government official in Washington, D.C. and as Associate Special Counsel to a Special Inquiry by the United States Senate. He also served as the Chairman of a municipal planning board in Westchester County, New York, as the capital campaign co-chair for a historic Westchester church and chairman and member of co-op and condominium boards in Connecticut and Manhattan.
